St. Francis Women's Altar Guild


The primary objective of the Altar Guild is the cleaning and maintenance of the altars, sacristy, altar linens, vestments of the priests and servers, and anything else needed in the performance of Liturgy and other priestly duties. The second objective is to unite the members in a spiritual bond and thereby promote a greater spirit of devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament; also to promote greater harmony and more cooperation among the ladies of the parish for the general welfare of all members of the parish.

The Benefits of Membership are:

  • A Mass once a month
  • A Requiem Mass after death, to be said as soon as possible after death
  • At least one Communion offered and one Rosary said by every member for the deceased.
  • Concern shown by cards or visits by members to each other in times of illness or trouble.

Membership Duties Include:

  • Assisting in care of the altars, the vestments, altar linens, flowers for special occasions, and vigil candles if needed.
  • Attendance at the funeral and Mass for deceased member, if possible.
  • Offering of one Holy Communion and Rosary for deceased member.
  • Attendance at monthly meetings, as often as possible, and participation in Guild events - such as, Fiesta, and help at funeral receptions.
  • Payment of annual dues of $20.00 ( Due every January of each year).
